New York Senate Rejects Gay Marriage Bill
December 3, 2009 – In a surprise to pro-family activists in New York, the state Senate voted yesterday to reject a bill that would have legalized same-sex marriage. The vote was 38-24. The state Assembly had passed the bill a second time by a 86-51 vote, but the Senate rejection of it ensures its defeat.
“This is a wonderful victory for Biblical morality and the traditional family,” said TVC Chairman Rev. Louis P. Sheldon. “The gay juggernaut has been stopped for the time being in New York. This is an amazing win for righteousness and an unexpected one!
“The LGBT community is in shock over this vote. They claimed to have paid for Democrat victories in the last election cycle and are angry that the Democrats did not pay them back with a vote to support gay marriage.
“State Senator Reuben Diaz deserves a lot of credit for his courage in fighting to defend marriage in the Senate. He and his fellow Democrats and their Republican allies faced overwhelming odds, but won! I hope his efforts will serve as an inspiration to others who are facing similar challenges to traditional marriage in their states.”
