Honor Our Soldiers Today!

November 11, 2009 -- Today, all across America, ceremonies are taking place to honor the sacrifices that our soldiers have made to protect this great nation from both external and internal enemies.

Our brave men and women who are fighting for freedom in Afghanistan and Iraq deserve our upmost respect and praise for their willingness to give up their own lives to protect all of us.

The men and women who fought in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Somalia, and elsewhere are equally deserving of our honor.

Today, however, is not simply a day to honor our American fighting force. The cowardly and brutal massacre of 13 soldiers in Fort Hood by an Islamic terrorist is a somber reminder that our enemies are both foreign and domestic.

As more and more facts come out about Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the Islamist who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded nearly 30 more, it is clear that he was a domestic enemy inside our military. Not only was he a hater of America and our soldiers, but he was actively involved in contacting Al Qaeda and other Islamic radicals.

Americans must never forget that the Islamic enemy our nation faces is both internal and external. The soldiers at Fort Hood discovered this last Thursday and it is a tragedy that should never be forgotten as this nation faces the rise of militant Islam around the globe.

In celebrating Veteran’s Day, let’s remember the names of the fallen soldiers and civilian workers at Fort Hood:

  1. Franceska Velez
  2. Captain John Gaffaney
  3. Pfc. Aaron Thomas Nemelka
  4. Pfc. Michael Pearson
  5. Spc. Jason Dean Hunt
  6. Michael Grant Cahill (civilian)
  7. Spc. Frederick Greene
  8. Staff Sgt. Justin M. DeCrow
  9. Sgt. Amy Krueger
  10. Pfc. Kham Xiong
  11. Juanita Warman (civilian)
  12. Major L. Eduardo Caraveo
  13. Russell Seager (civilian)
