Abortion Industry Presents Obama With Policy Guidelines For Next Four Years

December 19, 2008 – Several dozen pro-abortion groups have presented the Obama Transition Team with a 55 page document that outlines what they expect Obama to accomplish on abortion and abstinence during his four-year term in office.The document, “Advancing Reproductive Rights And Health In A New Administration,” lays out a grand scheme to make certain abstinence education is destroyed and that abortion will be widely available in total disregard of parental rights or state laws passed to govern how abortions are performed.

The document also wants the Obama Administration to rescind restrictions on the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortion overseas – and to provide $1 billion for International Family Planning Programs.

It is calling for the repeal of all restrictions on abortion – which will include lifting the federal ban on partial-birth abortions! This grisly procedure involves pulling the baby nearly out of the womb, puncturing its skull and sucking out its brains so rest of the baby can be more easily removed. The abortion industry wants to remove all of our hard won pro-life victories.

From postings gleaned from leftist web sites, it appears that the creators of this document were displeased that the Obama transition team web site published it. As one poster on Huffington Post said: “What advocates were less eager to share with the public is the detailed roadmap included in the document for the changes in policy needed to improve reproductive health for women both here and abroad. Several advocates cited concerns that the administration would be criticized as doing the bidding of reproductive health community if it made use of the specific legal reasoning outlined in the document.”

“That so-called ‘legal reasoning’ includes urging Obama to circumvent a federal law that forbids tax dollars from going to overseas groups that promote prostitution,” said Traditional Values Coalition Executive Director, Andrea Lafferty. “This is certainly cause for alarm among voters – even ones who voted for Obama.”

Brief Glimpse Of What’s In The Document

Pro-abort Judges: The abortion document also calls upon Obama to select judges who have a “demonstrated commitment to fundamental legal protections and civil liberties, including reproductive rights.” In other words, Obama should select judges who are pro-abortion and will permit no restrictions to be placed on the killing of unborn children. It also demands that Obama appoint senior leaders “throughout the federal government” who are committed to protecting abortion on demand.

Defund Abstinence Programs: Pro-aborts want Obama to increase Title X Family Planning Program funds to $700 million a year – and to defund abstinence education programs. (page 8)

Tax Dollars For Overseas Abortions: Under “Reclaiming America’s Global Leadership On Reproductive Health,” the pro-aborts insist that Obama rescind the current regulation that forbids tax dollars from being used overseas to promote abortion. The abortion lobby also wants restored funding for the U.N. Population Fund. (page 8)

Sex Education: “Comprehensive sex education” is another demand of the pro-aborts from the Obama Administration. This form of sex education includes teaching children about contraceptives and homosexuality. (page 11)

Abortions At Military Hospitals: Pro-aborts want a ban lifted on the performing of abortions at military hospitals! (page 14)

Freedom Of Choice Act: A key element in this document is a call for passage of the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA). If passed, this law would virtually wipe out every state-passed law that controlled how abortions were performed or granted parents the right to consent or at least be informed if their daughters were obtaining abortions. (page 15)

Socialized Medicine: The abortion document also demands universal health care for all because health care is considered a “right.” This health care must be “culturally and linguistically-appropriate, patient-centered” care. (page 17)

Health Care For Illegals: It demands that “barriers created by documentation requirements” for health care be rejected. In short, taxpayers should pay for the health care of illegal aliens. (page 18)

Fund Groups Promoting Prostitution: It asks Obama to circumvent restrictions in the global AIDS fund law that forbids tax dollars from going to overseas groups that approve of prostitution! (page 20)

“These are all policies that Obama will undoubtedly implement,” said Lafferty. “He has made numerous promises to Planned Parenthood about what he will do to defend the killing of unborn children – and he has promised to pick pro-abortion judges.”
