What Makes Michelle Obama Tick?

August 25, 2008Tonight’s Democratic National Convention will feature Senator Barack Obama’s wife Michelle as the keynote speaker. The theme of this evening’s events is “One Nation.” It will highlight Obama’s life story and also include an introduction from leftist preacher, Rev. Leah D. Daughtry, who is the CEO of the Convention. Also featured are an array of hard-core liberals, including Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA); Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America; Reg Weaver, president of the National Education Association; Jimmy Carter, former president; Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr., Sen. Ted Kennedy, and others.

A benediction at the end of the evening will be read by Don Miller, a “Christian” author who is described as writing about “Christian spirituality.” The Door interviewed Miller in 2004. His comments are very revealing about his view of Scripture and Christianity. On the issue of homosexuality, for example, Miller says: “When science says people are born homosexuals, I would say absolutely people are born homosexuals. Satan is an unfair guy, he rules this world.”

The evening’s event will be brought to a close by pro-abortion Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius, who has appointed two pro-abortion Attorneys General since she has been in office. Both of these AGs have blocked any efforts to prosecute Planned Parenthood over criminal activities.

Michelle Obama’s past speeches on behalf of her husband have been disturbing in their implications for the future if Obama wins the presidency. In a speech given at UCLA in February 2008, Michelle Obama told the audience:
Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.

Rev. Leah D. DaughtryYou have to stay at the seat at the table of democracy with a man like Barack Obama not just on Tuesday but in a year from now, in four years from now, in eights years from now, you will have to be engaged.

We have lost the understanding that in a democracy, we have a mutual obligation to one another -- that we cannot measure the greatness of our society by the strongest and richest of us, but we have to measure our greatness by the least of these. That we have to compromise and sacrifice for one another in order to get things done. That is why I am here, because Barack Obama is the only person in this who understands that. That before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation.
A New Yorker article described the regular themes of Michelle’s speeches. According to Michelle, America is “just downright mean” and we’re “guided by fear.” According to Michelle, “We have become a nation of struggling folks who are barely making it every day. Folks are just jammed up, and it’s gotten worse over my lifetime,” says Mrs. Obama. She tells audiences that health care is out of reach – “Let me tell you, don’t get sick in America” and that “living has gotten progressively worse since I was a little girl.”

In a speech given on February 18, Michelle said: “For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country. Not just because Barack is doing well, but I think people are hungry for change.” She later tried to clarify that she meant she’s proud of Obama’s supporters being so involved politically.

Mrs. Obama’s thesis at Princeton University, reveals her to be a cynic about African-Americans’ ability to succeed in America. She wrote that her experience at Princeton, “will likely lead to my further integration and assimilation into a White cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant.”

In Senator Obama’s campaign for the U.S. Senate in 2004, Michelle Obama sent out an email fundraising letter that urged voters to support her husband. Michelle told voters that if elected to the Senate, her husband would work to overturn the partial-birth abortion ban passed and signed into law by the president. According to Michelle, “The fact remains, with no provision to protect the health of the mother, this ban on a legitimate medical procedure is clearly unconstitutional and must be overturned.”

Michelle Obama’s relationship with the wife of Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan is troublesome to many. How close are their ties? We do not know. A photo of her was taken of her along with Mother Khadijah Farrakhan for Jet magazine (July 26, 2004) Mrs. Obama was attending a Jesse Jackson Rainbow Push event when the picture was taken. It is known that Sen. Obama has Nation of Islam members on his staff.
