June 3, 2008 – The California Supreme Court in an outrageous 4-3 decision has created a nationwide crisis over marriage by legalizing homosexual marriage in that state. If you live in California click here, if you live outside of California, click here.The Court not only legalized same-sex marriages, but also potentially legalized polygamy and polyamory because it opens up same-sex marriage while retaining the state law that provides domestic partnership benefits (AB 205). A homosexual who currently has a domestic partner, could conceivably also get married to another person under this Supreme Court decision. Heterosexual couples could do the same. It will be just a matter of time before such a challenge is filed in court.

Ten states are urging the California Supreme Court to put a stay on its decision because the people of California will be voting to protect marriage in November! The states asking for a stay are: Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Michigan, South Carolina, South Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire and Utah.

Because California has no residency requirements for marriage, it is expected that homosexuals will flock to that state, get married there, and return to their home states. They will then file lawsuits to have their home state legalize their fake marriage.

However, signatures were verified by the State of California qualifying the California Marriage Protection Act for placement on the November ballot in California. More than 1.1 million signatures were gathered to amend the California Constitution to protect marriage as a one-man, one-woman union. Californians will have the opportunity to overturn the dreadful California Supreme Court ruling allowing same-sex couples to marry.

The California Supreme Court has deliberately overturned Proposition 22, a ballot initiative in 2000 that was passed by more than 64% of the voters of California. It defined marriage as a one-man, one-woman union. However, four court justices have decided that millions of California voters were wrong.

“Over thirty years ago, I saw the impending crisis developing. TVC has been in the forefront of defending marriage and fighting the homosexual agenda for more than 20 years,” said TVC Chairman Rev. Louis P. Sheldon. “This is yet another battle that we must wage if we’re to block the advance of homosexual activism in America. Marriage is under attack. It is our God-ordained assignment to do everything within our power to defend this God-ordained institution from the subversive actions of liberal tyrannical judges.

“If the current court decision is left to stand it will have dangerous ramifications for religious-based groups, including Christian schools. Religious-based adoption agencies will have to place children with homosexual couples; faith-based groups disapproving of homosexuality could lose their tax-exempt status; pastors could eventually be forced to ‘marry’ homosexuals against their will; speech rights will be impacted as well. Criticism of homosexuality or homosexual marriage could be considered discriminatory ‘hate speech’ and criminalized.”

TVC is urging Americans to sign a petition directed to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown, asking them to pressure the Court into putting a stay on its decision until after the November election.

“If the Court refuses to put a stay on this decision it will set off a legal dirty bomb all over this nation,” said Sheldon. “Every homosexual couple who gets married in California before November will undoubtedly file a lawsuit the moment they return to their home state. The legal systems of 50 states will be clogged with these frivolous lawsuits. Once the people of California amend the Constitution in November, these “married” couples will no longer be married – yet their lawsuits will still jam the legal systems of their home states.”
