Has the American Psychiatric Association Gone Insane?

June 2, 2005 – In late May, the American Psychiatric Association delegates went on record at their Atlanta conference to endorse same-sex marriage. The vote was taken ostensibly in support of the “mental health” of homosexuals. The APA’s promotion of the homosexual agenda is a decades-old scandal that has gone largely unreported in the mainstream media.

The APA’s 1973 vote to remove homosexuality as a mental disorder from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders is considered a watershed event for homosexuals in their efforts to normalize this deviant sexual behavior in our culture. The ripple effect of this 1973 decision has been felt ever since in politics, education, and the media.

The decision was not based on science at all but on political pressure exerted by homosexuals outside the APA and closeted homosexuals inside who used their positions of authority to have a serious sexual condition declared “normal” by the most influential psychiatric group in the country.

Traditional Values Coalition Chairman Rev. Louis P. Sheldon has spoken out about this politically-motivated decision in his latest commentary: “Has The American Psychiatric Association Gone Insane?”

In it, he observes: “Frankly, the APA’s most recent decision on homosexual marriage is just one more example of this organization being used for political purposes by homosexual activist organizations. The APA’s leadership should be embarrassed and ashamed for allowing it to be a pawn of individuals who believe that engaging in anal sex is somehow equal to traditional marriage. Any rational person can understand the difference. The APA apparently has lost its ability to think rationally on this issue.”
