The Religion Of Planned Parenthood Exposed

March 24, 2005 – Jim Sedlak, executive director of STOPP International with the American Life League has written a column on the religion of Planned Parenthood.According to Sedlak, last year Planned Parenthood hired its first chaplain, Rev. Ignacio Castuera, a Methodist minister from California. Tom Davis, a United Church of Christ minister heads up PP’s Clergy Council. Davis recently published Sacred Work that portrays Planned Parenthood’s activities as carrying out God’s will in the world. The book features a foreword from Rev. Carlton Veazey, president of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.

Both Davis and Veazey admit that PP is a secular humanist organization. Dr. Alan Guttmacher, president of PP in 1973, was one of the signers of the Humanist Manifesto II that year. According to the Humanist Manifesto II: “As in 1933 [when the first manifesto was published] Humanists still believe that traditional theism, especially faith in the prayer-hearing God, assumed to love and care for persons, to hear and understand their prayers, and to be able to do something about them, is an unproved and outmoded faith.”

The religion of Planned Parenthood, notes Sedlak, is secular humanism. Sedlak notes: “This, then, is the religion of Planned Parenthood. Are you going to stand by while they thrust this religion on our children, or will you take action against this force today?”

Planned Parenthood’s effort to evangelize our children with the “gospel” of abortion on demand is being accomplished in many ways. One avenue is through the Girl Scouts. According to a report by STOPP International, 26% of Girl Scout Councils have a relationship with Planned Parenthood. PP’s sex education materials are being used by these Girl Scout Councils.
