Nine States Line Up To Ban Homosexual Marriage

November 10, 2004 – In last week’s election, 11 states approved constitutional amendments defining marriage as a one-man, one-woman union. Now, nine more states are lining up to pass similar amendments to defend marriage from being redefined by homosexual activists and liberal judges.The Washington Times (11/9/2004) reports that legislators in Texas, Virginia, Washington, Idaho, South Carolina, and Alabama will be filing amendments as soon as possible. Amendments are already in process in Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Massachusetts.

The amendment in Massachusetts, however, also embeds homosexual civil unions in the state constitution. The amendment was rammed through by the liberal dominated legislature. As written, it will allegedly protect marriage but give homosexuals legalized marriage under the “civil union” term.

The fact is that the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court engaged in extra-constitutional behavior when it forced the legislature to pass a law legalizing homosexual marriage.

The pro-family Article 8 Alliance is attempting to convince the legislature to remove the four justices on the Supreme Judicial Court who discovered that the 1780 constitution mandated homosexual marriages.
