Civil Unions Equal To Homosexual Marriage In Mass. Amendment

Summary: A columnist for the Boston Herald has pointed out the obvious: Homosexual civil unions are the same thing as homosexual marriage.Boston Herald columnist Thomas Keane pointed out in late March, 2004, that the constitutional amendment passed by the Mass. Legislature to supposedly "protect" traditional marriage gives homosexuals exactly what they want: homosexual marriage but only under another name.

According to Keane, the legislature passed an amendment in March that says: "Only the union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage" but "the next sentence then goes on to set up 'civil unions' which, it turns out, shall provide entirely the same benefits, protections, rights, privileges and obligations that are afforded to persons married under the law of the commonwealth." Says Keane: "Call it a civil union or not, it's really marriage.

Robert Knight with Concerned Women for America has confirmed that civil unions are no different than homosexual marriage. In short, support for civil unions as a "compromise" measure is actually giving homosexuals same-sex marriage by another name.
