New Group Launched To Defend Marriage

Summary: The Coalition for Marriage (CFM) is a newly formed organization specifically created to fight against the legalization of same-sex marriage in Massachusetts. TVC has joined this coalition and supports its goals.

The Coalition for Marriage has just been launched in Massachusetts to fight against the Supreme Judicial Court's recent ruling that forces the Massachusetts legislature to legalize same-sex marriage.The CFM will bring together grassroots groups to oppose same-sex marriage and to work for passage of a state constitutional amendment that defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

TVC will be working closely with the CFM leadership this coming year to provide advice and to encourage grassroots involvement through our network of churches in the state as well as through our email publications and web site.

"We're devoting a significant amount of effort this year to defending traditional marriage," said TVC's Chairman Rev. Louis P. Sheldon. "If homosexuals gain the so-called 'right' to marry, they will have gone a long way toward destroying the notion of marriage altogether. Legalization of same-sex marriage, civil unions, or domestic partnerships, will open the door for polygamy and other bizarre sexual arrangements. We must stop them."
