Traditional Values Coalition (TVC) president Andrea Lafferty commented on the recent release of additional research on the wasteful spending at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) exposing the University of Minnesota Men’s INTernet Study’s (MINTS) SexPulse program:
“NIH spent $5 million on a program whose primary product was the production of a gay porn site.
“This particular area of so-called research involved the placement of advertisements on some of the most heavily travelled homosexual and transgender sex websites -- Manhunt and Adam4Adam in particular -- and asked these gay men to take a survey. In effect, the University of Minnesota trolled websites full of horny gay men and asked “what best gets your attention?
“The answer? Gay porn.
“Based on this unscientific research, MINTS used this information to spend taxpayers’ dollars in the creation of a pornographic website designed to appeal to gay and transgendered men. NIH thought this was such a great idea, they chose to extend the sex spending until 2015!
“The National Institutes of Health is out of control with bizarre spending projects. Congress needs to conduct an investigation, hold hearings, and undertake a massive reform of this $38 billion monster.
TVC had previously unveiled over half a billion in identified waste including penis measurements, $90 million in grants given to the People’s Republic of China including the study of prostitutes as young as 14 years old, and the study of drug-infested men-on-men circuit parties. TVC plans on releasing more information over the next few months.
