CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was calling to see if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: Up to a certain time, yes.

CALLER: Okay. Well, what is that certain time?

CLINIC: I'm going to give you an 800 number, and you can call them, and they'll tell you.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: 1?800-967?7526.

CALLER: Where is that?

CLINIC: All appointments are made through the customer service number. That's the one I just gave you.

CALLER: The thing is, I'm going to be 14 on the 20th, and my friend said you guys would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend's 22. Would he be able to take care of it?

CLINIC: The state of California has no parental consent. So no, we don't have to tell your parents anything. How old are you?

CALLER: I'm going to be 14 on the 20th.

CLINIC: Nope.

CALLER: So it's okay? But my boyfriend's 22. Can he just take care of it?

CLINIC: What you mean can he take care of it?

CALLER: Well, he's 22. Is he old enough to take care of it, and you wouldn't have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: We don't tell anybody. Your records is your record. If your parents think that you have had an abortion, and if they want to petition the court and get a court order, we have to comply with the court and give up your records. But other than that, without a court order nobody gets to see your records.

CALLER: Oh, okay. So nobody would know about my boyfriend and me?

CLINIC: Huh?

CALLER: So nobody would know about my boyfriend and me?

CLINIC: Uh?uh. No. They want to know about you. Everything is confidential. Your records is confidential. The state of California has no parental consent laws. So that means you can go and do whatever you want to do in that respect, and they don't have to tell you.

CALLER: Okay. Well, the main reason why I'm worried about all this and wanted to get an abortion is because I haven't had my period since like January 3rd. But would I be able to come in there and get a pregnancy test just to make sure?

CLINIC: You can do a pregnancy test or whatever center you're near go have a pregnancy test done. And we do up to 12 weeks. If you're beyond 12 weeks, then there are other places you can go but we won't do it.

CALLER: Do you guys do pregnancy tests there?

CLINIC: We do.

CALLER: Oh, okay. My boyfriend told me to call you guys and wanted to go there.

CLINIC: Yeah? Well, do you live near this office?

CALLER: Well, no. That's why we wanted to go there so that ??

CLINIC: Where do you live?

CALLER: Huh?

CLINIC: Where you live?

CALLER: I live in Lacey (unclear).

CLINIC: Okay. Is that near Stockton somewhere? Is that Stockton Way?

CALLER: Yeah, toward there.

CLINIC: Well, I mean you don't have to drive this far for a pregnancy test.

CALLER: Well, we just didn't want anyone to see us that we knew.

CLINIC: Yeah. Well, you live in Tracey. There's got to be some places around there. I don't know all of them. You can call information and tell them to give you the phone number.

CALLER: It's just my boyfriend wanted to take me to you guys, so we wanted to go there. But if turned out that I wasn't pregnant, could I get birth control you think?

CLINIC: Yes, but I don't think you'd get it on the same day.

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: But that's what I was saying because you can call information and ask them to give you the Planned Parenthood nearest you.

CALLER: But I didn't want to go to anyplace near me.

CLINIC: Oh, okay.

CALLER: That's the thing.

CLINIC: Okay. Well, it's your decision. We do pregnancy tests on Mondays and Tuesday from 10 to 12 and from 1 to 3.

CALLER: Well, if it turned out that I wasn't pregnant, could I come there and get birth control too?

CLINIC: If you want to drive back on another day. You won't get it on the same day.

CALLER: Yeah, that's fine.

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: But would you have to tell anybody if I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: There's no law that says we have to tell anybody about anything. Your record is sealed. The only way anybody can get access to your records, they have to go to court and petition those records.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: You see what I'm saying?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: And then we have to abide with the law. We're not going to lie for anybody. But we have to, yeah. But other than that, no.

CALLER: I need to talk to my boyfriend. Could I call you back? What was your name?

CLINIC: Emma.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: But you need to make sure you don't drive that far unless you know when we are doing the testing so that you make sure you come during those hours.

CALLER: Okay. Thank you.
