CLINIC: Thank you for calling Planned Parenthood. This is Rosalina. Can I help you?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was calling to see if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: Not at this clinic, no.

CALLER: Oh. Well, do you know of anybody that does?

CLINIC: Yeah. I'll give you our number to the surgical services. It's 446-6921.

CALLER: Okay. Do you know -- it's just I'm kind of worried because well my friend told me that since like well I'm going to be 14 later on this month, she said that you guys would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend's 22. Is he old enough to just sign whatever it is and they wouldn't have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: You have Medical or what kind of insurance do you have?

CALLER: Well, my boyfriend said that he would just pay for everything, so.

CLINIC: Oh, really? I don't think they would have -- if it's confidential, then it's confidential. If you don't want your parents to know. Go ahead and call them. I'm not really sure, so just call that number that I told you.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Ask them before you go in.

CALLER: Do you know -- like the main reason why we're scared about all this is because I haven't had my period since like December 26, and I'm just really worried.

CLINIC: Since December 26?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: That was your last?

CALLER: My last period.

CLINIC: That was the first day, or the --

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: First day. Okay. You are probably about 9 to 10 weeks.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: So everything -- I mean, you're still early enough to do the procedure, but you haven't took a pregnancy test?

CALLER: No.

CLINIC: You're going to have to come in and take a pregnancy test. You can probably go into Surgical Services and do that.

CALLER: Well, my friend just told me to go to you guys. So could I come in there for that?

CLINIC: We don't do the abortions here in our clinic. We do them on the number that I gave you right now. So what you're going to want to do is just call them and they could give you more information. You're going to want to call them before you go in because of the whole confidentiality thing. You don't want your parents to know. Make sure of that.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: You know what I mean?

CALLER: Yeah. Well, could I come in there for a pregnancy test?

CLINIC: Yeah, if you want. We're closed today. Tomorrow we're open 8 to 2.

CALLER: Oh. So I could come in tomorrow?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: Well, if it turned out that I wasn't pregnant, would you guys be able to do birth control there?

CLINIC: Um-hum. You know what? You can go ahead and come in here. And take the pregnancy test. That way we can give you all the information. If it turns out you're not, we can give you birth control. If it turns out you are, then we can give you all the information, and we can help you out more about the whole abortion procedure and all that. So why don't you come in here and get your pregnancy test?

CALLER: But would anybody have to know about this at all?

CLINIC: About your birth control and all that? No.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: For the pregnancy test we have a state funding program and it's based on your income. And you probably don't have any income, so -- and it's confidential from your parents. It's based on donation, so whatever you can leave us.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: So if I had any questions could I call before I come?

CLINIC: Yes, that's fine.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Any questions you have about the whole pregnancy and abortion and all that, when you come and get your pregnancy test you can talk to the MA about that. We can give you all the information you need.

CALLER: What's her name?

CLINIC: It will be -- I don't know who is working tomorrow.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Feel free to call this evening if you have any more questions.

CALLER: Okay. You're Rosalina?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.
