CLINIC: Yes, between 7 and 12 weeks of pregnancy.

CLINIC: They don't put you to sleep. You are awake during the procedure.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: We have to make you two appointments. The first one is for bloodwork, paperwork and ultrasound.

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: The second one is for your termination.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know, I'm just really worried because like well, I'm going to be 14 in March. And my friend told me that you guys would have to tell my parents, but --

CALLER: -- my boyfriend's 22. Is it all right if he just signs whatever it is, and you wouldn't have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: No. It's a lie. That's not true.

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: What's not true, that they wouldn't have to tell my parents?

CLINIC: Correct.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Well, would it be all right if my boyfriend brings me because he would be the only way I could get there?

CLINIC: That's fine.

CALLER: Really?

CLINIC: Um-hum.

CALLER: Okay. It's just we were talking about all this, and we don't want a whole bunch of people to know about us. So he doesn't want anybody to ask him a whole bunch of questions or anything.

CLINIC: Okay. We can, we'll see you at 1:40 March 8. Are you going to be paying cash for your services?

CALLER: He said he would pay for anything. But like on March 8 --

CLINIC: For your bloodwork, paperwork and ultrasound.

CALLER: Okay. Well, my last period was like December 21st, so that's why I'm just worried about all this.

CLINIC: Okay, let's see. (pause)

CALLER: Are you still there?

CLINIC: Um-hum. I'm looking at my -- how far along you are.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: March 8th -- by March 8th you would be 11 weeks. March 16 you would be about 12 weeks. According to your information if it's right --

CALLER: Yeah?

CLINIC: -- you would be about 12 weeks by the time we brought you around for an appointment for a procedure.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Now, let me tell you, if your information is slightly wrong and you're over 12 weeks and one day, we will refer you out.

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: Now, what you could do is, is you could call (Southland?) Pregnancy Control and see if they will go ahead and provide an appointment there for you.

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: They go up to 14 weeks. Or I could go ahead and make you the appointment here, and if you happen to be more than 12 weeks and one day then we will refer you out.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: I want you to understand that.

CALLER: That would be probably be better.

CLINIC: Okay. Do you prefer for me to make, just to make the appointment then?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Okay. What's your last name?

CALLER: But if it turned out that I wasn't pregnant, could I get birth control there?

CLINIC: Sure.

CALLER: But would you have to tell anybody that I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Really?

CLINIC: All of our visits here are confidential.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Okay. I just -- my parents can't find out at all. I don't know what they would do if they found out. So.

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: But, all right. So?

CLINIC: So I can go ahead and make an appointment for Friday March 8 for your bloodwork, paperwork and ultrasound.

CALLER: Okay. Well, what time?

CLINIC: 1:40?

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Last name?

CALLER: What?

CLINIC: What's your last name?

CALLER: Oh. It's Smith.

CLINIC: First name?

CALLER: Christine.

CLINIC: Date of birth?

CALLER: March 19, 1988.

CLINIC: Phone number?

CALLER: Well, my boyfriend told me to give you his cell phone number, but I don't have that number yet. He just got it.

CLINIC: Oh, okay.

CALLER: So is it all right -- do you want me to call him and call you back? What was your name?

CLINIC: Rayna (sp).

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Yeah, you can do that. You can call me back. Okay, Christine. Call me back with your phone number, your message phone number.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: And your appointment's going to be for Friday March 8 at 1:40. I did tell you we don't put you to sleep here?

CALLER: Right.

CLINIC: You're awake.

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: But we'll give you a local anesthetic. Also we'll give you other narcotics. We do penthonal (sp) which is like twilight sedation. You must have a driver so it's good that your boyfriend's going to come with you. We could go ahead and give you that, and that will help you. You'll be more comfortable. Okay?

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: All right. We'll see you at 1:40.
