CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: Yes, we do.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know if you have to be a specific age for that?

CLINIC: No, you don't.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Do you need an appointment?

CALLER: Well, I have to talk to my boyfriend and see when he can bring me in. But --

CLINIC: Our next available appointment, just to let you know, is not available until Monday the 25th.

CALLER: Okay.

CALLER: Well, my friend told me that you guys have to tell my parents before I can have an abortion. Is that true?

CLINIC: No.

CLINIC: We don't. Uh-huh.

CALLER: Because they can't find out at all, because like well my problem is my boyfriend's 22, and we're planning on getting married, but like they just think, they hate him because they think he's too old for me, so.

CLINIC: How old are you?

CALLER: I'll be 14 in March.

CLINIC: Oh. That could be a problem.

CALLER: What do you mean?

CLINIC: Well, because of the age. I don't know. I mean, because of the fact that you're a minor it could be a problem only because he's already overage.

CALLER: But we're in love. We're going to get married. I don't understand what the problem is.

CLINIC: Well, that's -- it's according to laws. You know, it doesn't work like that, you know what I mean?

CALLER: I don't understand.

CLINIC: Well, by law if they know that he's that age and you're only 14, they have to report that.

CALLER: What would happen to him? Would he get in trouble?

CLINIC: I don't know.

CALLER: You don't know?

CLINIC: I don't know what would happen.

CALLER: Well, what should I do?

CLINIC: I don't know. It's your decision if you want to come in. I can schedule you an appointment.

CALLER: But would my boyfriend get in trouble? I mean, do you have to tell on him?

CLINIC: They will by law if somebody knows about it they have to legally report that, yeah.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, like, so like if I -- like he was wanting to know if we could get birth control there.

CLINIC: Yeah, you can get -- hold on a second, please?

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: You can get birth control after you have the procedure done, yeah.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: But nobody would have to know?

CLINIC: No. If your parents called, or whatever, we're not going to say, oh yeah, she was here. No.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: We don't do that.

CALLER: But what about my boyfriend? Like would you guy have to say anything about that?

CLINIC: That part? I'd have to find out for sure.

CALLER: Oh. Okay.

CLINIC: Hold on a minute. Okay?

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay. I can make you an appointment and everything will be confidential, okay?

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: So our next appointment is available on February 25th.

CALLER: Okay. Is it all right if he brings me because I don't have any other way to get there?

CLINIC: Yeah. That's fine because you are going to need a driver, okay?

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: What time do you want to come in? Early morning or a little bit later in the morning?

CALLER: Later.

CLINIC: Okay. I have 10:30, 10:45.

CALLER: Well, is it all right if I call my boyfriend and see because I have to see when it's good for him.

CLINIC: Find out. Find out with him. But the next appointment, just to know, is on February 25. I'm pretty open on the 25th, 26th, that week, okay?

CALLER: Okay. Can I call you right back and see?

CLINIC: You're going to have to -- we're going to close at 3:00, so.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Try to call by 2:45, okay?

CALLER: Okay. So what's your name so I can call you back?

CLINIC: Valerie.
